Pedersen, Hillman, Richie Furay & The Surfdawg!
Thanks to KPIG radio we won 2 tickets to the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco for last nights show with Chris Hillman & Herb Pedersen and the Richie Furay Band!
What a great place for a Live Music Show!

Chris & Herb were backed up by Larry Parks, son or Ray Parks of the Vern (Williams) and Ray Bluegrass Band! Chris and Herb play every BYRDS, Desert Rose and did tributes to Buck Owens, EmmyLou, and just entertained with FINE singing and Picking. Herb is so outstanding on guitar and and harmony backup. I couldn't take my eyes off of him and his guitar, banjo or mandolin. I swooned when Herb played the song he wrote, "Wait a Minute!" They sure do some wonderful harmonies and Chris Hillman is a good mando player too. They mixed up bluegrass and country rock songs berry nicely!

Richie Furay Band is a 5 piece band and they played some great music last night.

He opened with a Buffalo Springfield medley and then some Manassas songs, and then some Poco songs followed by some more originals by Richie. He had a very hot band that included his daughter and son singing backup harmonies. Excellent rock and roll and lots of energy and candid stories of what really happened all those years ago...especially with Buffalo Springfield. I just loved "Kind Woman"! Anyhow, I had a 2 hour drive home so I had to leave his show early and didn't get to see it all.
I think I liked the music of Herb Pedersen and Chris Hillman more!
It was a good night for music and an excellent music venue and the price was so right thanks to KPIG radio! I'm wiped out today!
I ran into 4 of Strawberry's Camp Carltone's finest!
Larue you woulda loved it!
I had heard about the show and wanted to go and then on Friday at the end of my work week, my hardcore bluegrass man told me he had won 2 tickets off of KPIG!! So yesterday, we drove up the coast on Highway One (magnificent clear skies and beautiful) then went to Haight Ashbury (I've never been there before) and then did the China town thing and then got in early at the Great American Music Hall...which is really a great place.
No I didn't take any pictures, but my friends did, so I will get copies eventually.
I loved Buffalo Springfield and POCO and sure loved all the music I heard last night. Only criticism I have was that the drummer for Richie was too loud. Got a #@!% ringing in my ears today that won't go away! Hate that! Didn't bring my earplugs like I should have!
Richie is a pastor and really quite open about his life and music and gave a great performance with his band. Sure loved the great tunes.
I love Herb Pedersen. Man is he a FINE musician.
And Chris Hillman is really funny.

I don't know if this happens to any of you...
But I was spiritually connected with Steven somehow Sunday night - at this concert:
And as I watched Chris Hillman play his mandolin and sing, I found ,myself lost in thoughts and memories of our good buddy, Steven, the Surfdawg, playing his mando and singing and was flooded with memories of all those good times we spent together...how he could play and sing...it was a good thing and good times for sure!
See you up on Evergreen Road!
