Golden Triangle

Some of the old, and a little of the new...
Apparently for years, one of the largest opium traffiking pipelines in the world. Now, mostly restaurants, gift shops and guesthouses.
Still pretty cool.

More Myanmar

The Scorpion on the Thai side keepin' the neighbors out.
The 'bar' where we stopped for a beer.
Thailand on the left, Myanmar on the right.
The local transportation.

The Temple at the Top

It was built a couple of years ago. Very different than the older ones. Still amazing.

The stairway to the top of the temple was a giant Naga as well.

Thaton, Northern Thailand

Wat Thaton, the 5 level Buddhist Meditation Center near the Myanmar border.
During the New Years celebration, every night at dusk, all the people from the town head to the top, fill up all those chairs to watch the sun set, and then eat(octopus on a stick), drink (no alcohol), and be merry till the wee hours. Cool music too.
The little Buddha was about half way up to the first level. About 3 kilometers to the top.

From the longtail boat that took me out to Koh Pla Chlam (Shark Island).

Ok......

I know you're probably tired of all the travel pics, but I finally had a chance to go through 'em with everybody this weekend. Just a couple more.......

My friend the Pachyderm, I was shakin' his trunk with one hand, and tryin' to take the pic with the other.

Ted had one of 'em dancin' for food.

Sunscreen?

Nattaya took us sunburnt Farang (Gringos) to dinner at the restaurant (neighbor's house) around the corner from her parent's.

More Trip Pics?

Three from Koh Tao harbor. Ya gotta love the longtail boats.
I just got back from a weekend in the city yakin' around, and ended up paddlin' around Bullhead Flat in China Camp State Park. Great place, found it by accident. Zeke musta been there before, yer old stompin' grounds!
......and hangin' out with everybody that went on the trip.
