N Then, Don' t Thnk Twice . . .

What can I say . . . this is what moves me.

I can appreciate acoustic theatre like Zappa and even Meatloaf or maybe the Tubes!

But I can't listen to that stuff for ever like I can listen to Doc N Merle.

I'm cursed that way, Dave . . .

There Are Times . . .

When I just bust out bawlin like a baby as Tubdude says, listenin to old favs.

Dave, I just can't ever forget the many times I saw Doc N Merle at Great American Music Hall in SF.

I saw them as a duo, and also with Michael T Coleman (bass as ya know) a dozen times.

Damn I miss Merle . . . here's some good pickin . . . sniff.

Yeah...I Admit it, I'm Just A Pup.

In '71, I was 11, two guys made me pick up a guitar....and then I learned what was out there.

Nice tele.

This is from '75. Funny how John Paul Jones played all the mando parts. We saw him with Grisman at the mandolin symposium at UCSC, David said they'd been friends for years.

Dave's Killin Me, Nicely I Admit.

But can I regress to this, and frankly the LINEUP is what got me.

John Kahn . . . you know him . . .

Yeah, I know Bloomfield did better work . . . his git work is unsurpassed, on this one:

You can't GET thea from heah, Dave . . .

*G*

Disclaimer: The horns were added as an afterthought . . . perhaps the greatest liner notes of all time, aside from Andrew Loog Oldham on an old Rolling Stones album (he was a producer of early Stones records). I think it was the liner notes from December's Children.

No Liner Notes, But A CLASSIC Release By Stones N COMPANY.

Here's The Album Info

Dang wish I could find them liner notes . . . they wuz good!

Cache Valley Drifter Musicians this Saturday!

My friend Marky Starks runs the Canyon Acoustic Society and presents House Concerts, workshops, Open Mics and is on the KPIG crew for Please Stand By, and also presents concerts at the Ugly Mug!

Penny Nichols - Voice Teacher/Coach
Concert - Saturday January 22nd - $20.00
Workshop - Sunday January 23rd - $35.00
Discount for both - $50.00

Penny Nichols has a bio that's way too impressive to include in detail in this humble little newsletter. So let's just say that when we have a chance to spend time with someone who's earned a platinum record with Jimmy Buffet, a Grammy nomination with Arlo Guthrie, and who's worked with Linda Rondstadt, Jackson Browne and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band...well, we want to keep her around as long as we can.

On Saturday, January 22nd, Penny will perform at my house. She'll be accompanied by Mike Mullins and Tom Lee of Cache Valley Drifters. Local songwriter Midyne Spear opens the show. This night includes dinner and the concert for $20. Dinner is at 6:30. Show starts at 7:30.

On Sunday, Penny is doing KPIG's live music show. That afternoon, she returns to Prunedale and will spend the afternoon presenting a workshop on vocals and harmony, (Penny has a doctorate from the Harvard School of Education.) A songwriting workshop will be offered concurrently with Midyne Spear. We'll do a potluck dinner for this, followed by a jam into the early evening.
The workshop is $35. The afternoon begins with the workshop at 3:00PM

You can also do both the Saturday concert and the Sunday workshop for a reduced price of $50.
