Wednesday Night -- Who's in?

Phil Cunningham & Aly Bain
6 | wednesday
The Kuumbwa
When: 7:30 p.m. Where: 320-2 Cedar St., Santa Cruz. Cost: $17; $16 to Celtic Society members. Info: 464-2128.
The distinctly Scottish rhythms, accents and slurs of this duo’s music deliver the spirit of the Celtic isles straight to your gray matter. Fiddler Aly Bain is a founding member of the Scottish-Irish traditional group Boys of the Lough, and former Silly Wizard accordionist Phil Cunningham, long known as “Scotland’s musical director,” is the recipient of the Best Instrumentalist honor in the Scots Traditional Music Awards. Since forming after Cunningham appeared on Bain’s TV show, the duo has become one of the most formidable Scottish traditional outfits on the scene. Both musicians have received the MBE from the British crown, and in 2005, they were voted Best Duo at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award.

Get Well Neil

Hate to have to add him to the long list of memorials.

Farm Subsidies

70% of the cash go to 10% of the producers? So they cut 5% across the board so it'll be 'fair' and 15% of the bottom 30% sell out to Bush's family and friends? But since when is Ted Turner on of those?
