Rebirth

“This is bigger than any convention that we’ve ever had,” --Saint Jones owner of Big Daddy's strip club on Bourbon talking about all the relief workers, National Guard and reporters asking him when he'll open back up.

Councilman Mark Madary, whose district includes Arabi, said he saw some encouraging signs. “It was uplifting to see people cleaning out their homes,”he said. “The rebirth of St. Bernard depends on people coming back. And like childbirth, it ain’t always going to be a pretty sight.”

Thankful for every little thing

Camp Howdy

I am so thankful that I have friends, my cat, my bed, my books, old truck, camping gear, a clock, clothing to wear, a washer and dryer, a closet with changes of clothing, a carpet on the floor, fresh water, food in fridge, lamp by bed, television, radio, magazines, candles, flashlights, fireplace, a shower, all this stuff that makes life easier, how about privacy, a paycheck coming in though small is ample for my needs, a focus beyond survival....what to do about government mess-ups? I'm not sure but being thankful for what I have must be the first part...I have to take a minute or two out to be thankful....
