Look!! A Tub!!!

Oh.

I never knew.

Honest.

Thanks Martin, for all That English Beat, way back . .

Still spins in MY . . favs . . .

Ska. Is SUCH a big word . . .

Comments:
That's not a tub.....

it's a box.

you should know the difference.

Skiffle bands used teachests. Please note for future reference that teachests, as opposed to washtubs, are not dipped in molten zinc.

Hey, I saw a rope. It was attached to something.

To me, it's a tub.

Ska, skiffle, piffle.

No WONDER I couldn't find any John Lennon links to ska, I shoulda been lookin for skiffle . . . shoulda googled Lonnie Donnigan first, I guess. I USED to know this shit . . .

Anyway, it's all the same 12 notes (said in a Keroauc voice) . . . . cue Steve Allen.

Cept for the tub. Then there's only 3 notes. Every song.

1,4,5.

Course, the Chinese only have 5 notes . . . but if their Huang Chung is on, they got it goin . . . I quote:

"The failure of a dynasty was ascribed to its inability to find the proper huang chung, or tone of absolute pitch.

The huang chung was produced by a bamboo pipe that roughly approximated the normal pitch of a man's voice. Other pipes were cut, their length bearing a definite mathematical ratio to it. Their tones were divided into two groups—six male tones and six female. These were the lüs, and their relationship approximated the Pythagorean cycle of fifths. Legend ascribes their origin to birdsong, six from that of the male bird and six from that of the female, and the tones of the two sets were always kept separate."

No wonder I never liked Wang Chung . . . their Huang Chung was off!!!!

On a lonely Sunday night, on a distant hill, when all the dog houses done gone, a tub is a beautiful thing when it's got it goin.

Course, I've seen Mz. Wendy throw down some rope at 2am in the middle of a sleepy HowdyVille, too . . . that was beautiful also . . ;-) She had her huang chung goin ON!

Here's to tubs and ropes and teachests!

May all your rope be taut and may you find your proper huang chung!

Blah Blah Wubba Wubba thud!

Birdsong?....ask Jerry.
