Well, made it to SF for the big SFBOT/America's Cup/Beer Week/Valentine's Day/Olympics/and it was really nice out Saturday Weekend. I heartily recommend the Wharf Inn. Two blocks from the foot of the Embarcadero. After three hours at the Exploritorium not drinking, we parked early at the hotel and stroll down the row of restaurants looking for the first open pair of bar stools. Castagnola's. They weren't ready for the weather to turn nice. The oysters were still nice. The beer was cold and as the bartender got loosened up by Miss Wendy we got our check and hightailed it for the Buena Vista for whiskey and coffee. We didn't make it. We saw the word "bar" and "happy hour" at the end of a long brick wall and walked on into Jack's First some Pebble golf on the big screen and then Olympic ski jump. The whole bar turned into judges. As it started to get dark, we found some actual Manhattan chowder at Pompeii's Grotto. The sand dabs are nice and the crab sandwich bests picking a half a crab.

Wonder if Dave made it to Thailand yet.

That's more fun than some people I know get in a year!

Well played Martin and Wendy!!!!

Heck, THEN we went drinkin'. Ended up at Red Jack Saloon. Watched the world come and go. Played "Under Pressure" and "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?" on a the jukebox. Some fancy-pants candy-flavored watered-down white lightning in a big pink bottle had two convention models in red spandex miniskirts trying to offer girlie tshirts and mirrors to the ladies while suggesting cocktails to me and the bartender and failing to get any traction. Every 15 minutes, the pair of them would wander around and do more product placement until the women in the bar, including the bartender, were ready to show them the door. I musta had five or six thimbles of the date-rape concoction they were peddlin'. I had to eat a full combo at IHOP to make it the four blocks to the hotel. Aunt Surfdawg woulda had a field day.

Ya just make me smile hoss.

Thanks!
