Is that shot from a crows nest on the boat?

Why would there be a crows nest on a racing vessel?

I'm confused about these sailor thingies.
 

No crows nest, hoisted up to the masthead on a halyard, swingin' there, tryin' to untangle some stuff that got tangled.

I was gonna say 'clear a fouled spinnaker halyard' but I figured I wouldn't confuse you with more sailor thingies.

Oh, and he decided to hang out for a little while and use his camera phone while the boat was doing 20 knots.
 

Damn! I've done the bosun's chair on my old Columbia 24 in it's slip or at anchor, would never consider it underway!
